In a bizarre collaboration that challenges conventional predictions, the game developer has revealed an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Revealed
According to the official announcement, "An unusual encounter draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where whispers of forbidden practices and terrifying metamorphoses resonate through the obscurity." The plot features a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a hidden cult.
The questline centers on "strange trials and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Changes
The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Bonus Content
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an exclusive katana in addition to several objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Content
This update also adds the game's third free story content, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe reveals a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
