Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging period, managing just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former mentor his previous coach.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since spring of that year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 victories at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

Both players swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

He defended four early chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
